Isn’t it great when you against all odds get your prejudices destroyed and are given the opportunity to revise one or two assumptions? One truly becomes satisfied and proud of oneself that one despite everything is so big-minded and humble that one kept his mind open enough to accommodate and revalue a true deception. We all got prejudices, whether we want to acknowledge them or not. But when you discover for example a new band or a recently released album that supersedes all you expectations or turns the musical world image one’s become true to upside down, one becomes both happy and filled with a great feeling in both body and soul.
Sadly Enbound does not belong to the category of bands that with their, in this case, EP makes the exception that confirms the rule. With starting point in the fact that the drummer Mike C Force (aka Mike Cameron Force, Mikael Hornqvist or Mikael Hörnquistwith) from the discontinued Zonata, Poem and IronWare and former member in Ablaze, joined forces with the former string stretcher in Crystal Eyes, Jonathan Nyberg, one tend to do the assumption that also Enbound are plowing in the same power metal-trench. One could say that they are on the same pitch but not in the same division as their previous bands. Along with vocalist Marcus Nygren and bass player Sven Odén, Enbound takes their power metal one step further, away from the trench that is the trademark of way to many constellations in the genre.
One does not enter a spin, or goes not through a noticeable change in music preferences because of Enbound’s initiative within the genre. Still it lies something in what they so self confident give expression for in their description of the bands direction and goal: “We know no boundaries when it comes to add different genres in our music; everything we like we gladly add to our way to perform and sound, which makes the true core of Enbound.” This is obviously a truth with modification that they mix different kind of genres, when they after all still remain in well known melodic power metal-territory. They have the guts to test the boundaries a bit more than other many others, that’s true. But of the four tracks on the EP, “You Are Now Forever Enbound”, it’s really just the song “Death Is Dawning” that protrudes and possesses a compelling stroke.
The three other songs are good but do not distinguish themselves enough to throw over the expectations of what power metal means. The music is competent and each song is a genuine craftsmanship from a quartet that knows how a solid, tight and substantial power metal in touch with times should be composed. I some aspects Enbound reminds of both Zonata and Crystas Eyes but also Morgana LeFay, Nocturnal Rites and Nevermore seem to have had an influence on the Borås-guys’ sound. Even though the grade on the self-produced EP is semi-high its four tracks has good promise and gives a good foretaste of what Enbound can come to stand for in the future when a full length album reaches the crowd. Because, despite of everything Enbound and their form of power metal stand tall in the competition. Whether they actually go through and live up to the promise of not knowing any limits and mix “different kind of genres”, which would be an advantage to the bands unique trademark and opportunity to stand out, remains to be seen. Visst är det härligt när man mot alla odds får sina fördomar spolierade och man ges möjlighet att omvärdera en och annan förutfattad mening. Man blir onekligen nöjd och stolt över sig själv som trots allt är så storsint och ödmjuk att man förhållit sig öppen nog att ta in och omvärdera en trogen vanföreställning. Fördomar har vi lite till mans, vare sig vi vill erkänna det eller ej. Men när man upptäcker till exempel ett band eller nyutgivet album som överträffar ens förväntningar eller vänder upp och ner på den musikaliska världsbild man gjort sig förtrogen med blir man både lycklig och fylls av en extra härlig känsla i både kropp och själ.
Nu tillhör dessvärre inte Enbound den kategorin band som med sin, i det här fallet, EP utgör undantaget som bekräftar regeln. Med utgångspunkt i det faktum att trummisen Mike C Force (aka Mike Cameron Force, Mikael Hornqvist eller Mikael Hörnquistwith) från de nedlagda Zonata, Poem och IronWare samt ex-medlem i Ablaze gjort gemensam sak med före detta strängbändaren i Crystal Eyes, Jonathan Nyberg, drar man gärna slutsatsen att även Enbound ligger i samma power metal-fåra och plöjer. Man kan säga att de ligger på samma planhalva men inte riktigt i samma division som respektives tidigare band. Tillsammans med Marcus Nygren på sång och Sven Odén vid basen tar Enbound sin power metal snäppet vidare, upp ur den tradiga fåra som utmärker allt för många konstellationer inom genren.
Man går som sagt inte i spinn eller genomgår någon märkbar omvandling av musiksmak på grund av Enbounds initiativ inom genren. Det ligger ändå något i vad de så självsäkert ger uttryck för i sin beskrivning av bandets inriktning och målsättning: ”Vi känner inga gränser när det gäller att blanda in olika typer av genrestilar i vår musik; allt vi gillar mixar vi friskt in i vårt sätt att framföra och sound, som blir själva stommen i Enbound”. Det är självklart en sanning med modifikation att de blandar in olika typer av genrer, när de till syvende och sist ändå håller sig på välbekant melodisk power metal-mark. De vågar ta ut svängarna något mer än många andra, det är sant. Men av de fyra låtar som kommer med EP:n, ”You Are Now Forever Enbound”, är det är egentligen bara låten ”Death Is Dawning” som sticker ut och besitter ett medryckande drag.
De tre övriga låtarna är bra men utmärker sig inte tillräckligt för att kullkasta förväntningarna av vad power metal innebär. Musiken är oerhört kompetent och varje enskild låt är ett gediget hantverksarbete av en kvartett som vet hur en solid, tight och substantiell power metal med tidsenliga riff ska komponeras. I vissa avseenden påminner Enbound om både Zonata och Crystal Eyes men även Morgana Lefay, Nocturnal Rites och Nevermore verkar ha haft ett inflytande på boråsarnas sound. Även om betyget på den egenproducerade EP:n ligger halvhögt lovar dessa fyra spår gott och ger en viss försmak av vad Enbound kan komma att presentera i framtiden när väl en fullängdare når publiken. För trots allt står sig Enbound och den form av power metal de skapat väl i konkurensen. Huruvuda de sen gör slag i saken och faktiskt lever upp till löftet att inte känna några begränsningar och mixa ”olika typer av genrestilar”, vilket skulle vara till fördel för bandets unika särprägel och möjlighet att utmärka sig, återstår att se. Reading through the band biography and finding names like Crystal Eyes and Zonata is quite telling. In spite of this being Enbound's debut recording the band comes off as extremely professional. The musicianship is absolutely stellar and the production equally killer. What's more surprising is the fact that it sounds so bloody good! Z and CE were after all two of Sweden's crappiest power metal acts ever. Enbound, au contraire, are doing everything right from the get-go. There are similarities with fellow countrymen Nocturnal Rites but instead of sounding like a bunch of old grumpy Dio-wannabes Enbound ooze of confidence and energy, resulting in perhaps the greatest slab of power metal to come out of Sweden this side of Y2K. What is most impressive about the four songs offered on You are Now Forever Enbound is that they don't have the same main composer. Each song has been crafted by a different member of the band and the fact that they are all so f**king good is mindblowing. With four songwriters of this calibre the possibilities are endless for the future! It shouldn't be long until this bunch sits firmly at the top of the melodic metal throne! Stunning work! In Boras, Sweden and following Zonata’s split up, drummer Mike C. Force started a project with guitarist Jonathan Nyberg (ex Crystal Eyes). After they completed their line up in 2006 they started working on this demo that contains 4 songs of powerfully played heavy metal with modern approach on production. The music is very heavy and tight with either Iron Maiden pace on guitars or more modern riffing based on groove and thickness. The vocals are very reminiscent of Tim Owens in the low notes and they remain there as they fit the style of the band. The most striking element of this demo is the consistency of the band that sounds ready to hit the market and the clubs. Well played updated metal with the trademark of Harley Davidson – ride on! Efterföljande Zonatas splittring startade trummis Mike C. Force ett projekt med gitarristen Jonathan Nyberg (ex Crystal Eyes). Efter att ha gjort medlemsplatserna i bandet kompletta jobbade dem på denna demo som består av 4 låtar kraftfull heavy metal med en modern inriktning på produktionen. Musiken är tung och tight med både Iron Madien-stil och tempo på gitarrena såsom modernt riffande grundat på groove och fläskande. Sången påminner om Tim Owens i de låga registerna och de håller sig där då detta passar bandets stil. Det som slår mest är att bandet är konsekvent och detta verkar redo att släppas lös på marknaden och klubbarna. Välspelad modern metal med trademark av Harley Davidson - ride on! [Nikos Patelis]

Band from Boras, Sweden, formed in 2006 by drummer Mike C. Force (ex Zonata) and guitarist Jonathan Nyberg (former Crystal Eyes). Not long after Marcus Nygren found the singer and bassist Sven "Swede" Odén to complete the line-up.
Influenced by old and new Heavy Metal, combined with their four styles of writing music they create their own material. They do not worry about the different types of music, all they want is blend them in your own way and make it sound its main guideline.
I don't believe that these guys still do not have a record! One of the best EPs, or as some want, Promo CD, I heard recently. Heavy Metal killer, with pieces of various styles without pulling for this or that subgenus, has excellent arrangements and backing vocals, disconcerting guitar riffs, drums that go from rate until strong beats, precise guitar solo and bass that go of marking until the perfect solo.
Song: "Under A Spell", "Running Free" (nothing to do with the music of Iron Maiden), "Death Is Dawning" and "Noiseless Bullet." In the official website of the group, or on Youtube, you can watch the video of the song "Wicked Pirates" which is not part of this disc.
I hope we can still hear a disc full of expensive, it would be a great loss more great band be unnoticed scene of metal. For signal, Sweden has delighted us with excellent groups. Ten is not for only four songs, they deserve 100. [Bob Riot]

Banda da cidade de Boras, Suécia, formada em 2006 pelo baterista Mike C. Force (ex-Zonata) e o guitarrista Jonathan Nyberg (ex-Crystal Eyes). Não muito tempo depois encontraram o vocalista Marcus Nygren e o baixista Sven “Swede” Odén para completar o line-up.
Influenciados por old e new Heavy Metal, combinaram seus quatro estilos de escrever música para criar seu próprio material. Eles não se preocupam com os diferentes tipos de música, tudo que eles gostam é mesclá-los em seu próprio caminho sonoro e tornar isto sua principal diretriz.
Não dá para acreditar que estes caras ainda não tenham uma gravadora! Um dos melhores EPs , ou como alguns queiram, Promo CD, que ouvi nos últimos tempos. Heavy Metal matador, com pitadas de vários estilos sem puxar para este ou aquele subgênero, tem excelentes arranjos vocais e backing, riffs desconcertantes de guitarra, bateria que vai da cadência à porrada, solos precisos e baixo que vai da marcação ao solo perfeito.
Músicas: “Under A Spell”, “Running Free” (nada a ver com a música do Iron Maiden), “Death Is Dawning” e “Noiseless Bullet”. No site oficial do grupo, ou no Youtube, você pode assistir ao vídeo da música “Wicked Pirates” que não faz parte deste disco.

Bandet från staden Borås, Sverige, startades 2006 av trummisen Mike C. Force (före detta Zonata) samt gitaristen Jonathan Nyberg (före detta Crystal Eyes). Kort därefter fann de sångaren Marcus Nygren samt basisten Sven ”Swede” Odén för att komplettera uppställningen.
Influerade av gammal och ny Heavy metal, har de kombinerat deras fyra stilar av musikskrivande för att skapa sitt eget material. De har inte brytt sig om andra musikstilar, allt som de tycker om kombinerar de vilket skapar deras säregna musikstil.
Det är svårt att förstå att dessa killar fortfarande inte har ett skivbolag. Det är en av de bästa Promoskivor som jag har lyssnat på den senaste tiden. Heavy Metal matadorer med inslag av olika musik stilar utan att hamna i någon särskilt subgenre, de har utmärkta vokala arrangemang och backing, bra guitarr riffs, trumspel som slår, exakta & låga solon som markerar ett perfekt solo.

Det har blivit ganska sällsynt med band som sysslar med melodisk metal och som har det där lilla extra. I skrivande stund kan jag bara komma på ett par band som verkligen intresserar mig idag. Extra kul är det då att hitta ett band på demonivå som genom sin musik lyckas ge mig en riktig wow-känsla.
Vi snackar visserligen inte om några orutinerade killar här. Jonathan Nyberg lirade gura i CRYSTAL EYES i drygt tio år och Mike Cameron Force (trummor) har släppt plattor med ZONATA. ENBOUND låter dock mer intressant än herrarnas tidigare band och man har egentligen samtliga av de alla så viktiga ingredienser som krävs för att lyckas. ENBOUND innehar förmågan att skapa låtar med just de där speciella melodierna och refränger som sitter där dom ska och de har även i Marcus Nygren lyckats hitta en riktigt duktig sångare, något som är guld värt inom genren. Att de sedan påminner om NOCTURNAL RITES och att man i ”Noiseless Bullet” lyckats skapa en låt som med sin känsla i refrängen stundtals ger mig rysningar av välbehag – det är inte fy skam! It’s pretty rare nowadays, bands who does melodic metal and has “that little something extra”. In times of writing I can only think of a few bands that really interest me today. It makes it extra fun finding a band on demo level that through their music succeeds in giving me a real wow-feeling.
Well we’re not talking about any inexperienced guys here. Jonathan Nyberg used to play guitar with CRYSTAL EYES for about ten years and Mike Cameron Force, drummer, has released records with ZONATA. ENBOUND sounds more interesting than the guys’ previous bands and they have all of the so important ingredients which are needed for success. ENBOUND has the ability of creating songs with those special melodies and refrains which sits just right! And they have found a really good singer, Marcus Nygren, something that’s gold worth in this genre. As they remind about NOCTURNAL RITES and that they in “Noiseless Bullet” succeeds to create a song which with its refrain at times gives me shivers of pleasure! Snygg början med a capella-kör! Lovande! Det är lite svenskvarning på sångarens Marcus Nygrens uttal, men rösten är det inget fel på - han har en jävligt bra pipa!
Rent musikaliskt sitter det också där det ska, likasom produktionsmässigt. Sedan är jag väl lite trött på den melodiösa power metal-genren som sådan, men bandet låter så pass bra att jag till stor del kan ha överseende med det. "Death is Dawning", med en skitigare och tyngre attityd, är en riktig höjdarlåt och Marcus sjunger den dessutom som en kung. Bra riv blandat med stor melodisk känsla, säkert en grabb vi får höra mer av. [Janne Stark]

A Nice start with a capella choire! Promising! There’s a bit of Swedish-pronunciation-warning on Marcus Nygren, but there’s nothing wrong with his voice – he has a damn good peep hole! Musically speaking it also sit where it should, as well as production wise. But I’m a bit fed up with the melodic power metal genre as it is, but this band sounds good enough for me to overlook this for the most part. “Death Is Dawning”, with a dirtier and heavier attitude is a killer song and Marcus sing as a king. Pushing forward nicely mixed with great melodic feel, bet we’ll hear more from this dude. [Janne Stark]

ENBOUNDs programförklaring lyder: "Allt vi gillar mixar vi friskt in." Varför? Undrar jag. Ni är inget coverband, för helvete! Ska man låta inspirationen rinna till från alla håll och kanter är det bäst att man åtminstone filtrerar inflödet, så det personliga uttrycket inte riskerar att vattnas ur.
Trots att det egenproducerade alstret håller sig i heavy metal-fållan känns den inte riktigt som en enhet. Boråsbandet är alldeles för anonymt, även om låtar som "Under a spell" och "Running free" är klart habila.
Till nästa gång: ge mig en programförklaring som definierar soundet närmare. (5) [David Noaksson]

ENBOUNDs explanations to this program is ”Everything we like we cheerfully mix in” Why? I wonder. You’re not a cover band for hells sake! If you’re to let the inspiration flow from around everywhere you’d better filter the in-flow, so the personal expression does not risk diminishing.
Even though this self produced product keep itself heavy metal, it does not feel as a unit. The band from Borås is too anonymous even if songs as “Under a spell” and “Running Free” are competent.

Det är inte länge sedan det kom en tungtuff EP från ett rockband med Simrishamnsrötter. Nu är det dags igen även om det denna gång bara är en fjärdedel av bandet som kommer härifrån, å andra sidan är det bandet Enbounds sångare Marcus Nygren from Gröstorp! Fyra stentuffa spår, egna bandkompositioner, väl värda att låna ett öra om melodisk hårdrock är din maräng! Gitarrist är Jonathan Nyberg. Basist är Sven Odén och bak trummorna sitter Mike C Force. Det ryker och fräser. Det är mycket attityd och massor med hårdrocksattribut i smakfulla arrangemang. Marcus har varit med om att skriva tre av melodierna och står som pappa till texten på plattans tredje spår Death Is Dawning. Mycket välproducerat och att Marcus har exakt rätt röst gör detta till ett bra köp. Det som inte längre syns på topplistorna finns ändå och lever och frodas som nästan aldrig förr. Det spelas, köps och älskas mycket hårdrock i Sverige. Enbound kan bli riktigt, riktigt stora!

It was not long ago a tough and heavy EP was released from a band with its roots in Simrishamn. Now it’s time again though only a fourth of the band origins from here, well on the other hand Enbound’s singer Marcus Nygren is from Gröstorp! Four tough tracks, self composed, and well worth listening to if melodic hard rock is your cheescake! Guitarist is Jonathan Nyberg. Bassist, Sven Odén and behind the drums sit Mike C Force. It burns and sputters. There is lots of attitude and hard rock attributes in tasteful arrangements. Marcus is writer on three of the songs and is the lyrical father of the third track Death Is Dawning. Very well produced and the fact that Marcus has the exact right voice for this makes it a good buy! What’s no longer seen in the top-lists still live and flourish as never before. Hard rock is played, bought and loved a lot in Sweden. Enbound can grow really, really big!
